Scribble Drawing
September 2012
This is the first thing that I drew in my creative art class. I chose to draw one of my friends Aaron. It took me a really long time to complete this, because I wanted it to actually look okay. The shirt was really difficult to draw because it was plaid and had so many different shades. I am happy with the way it turned out.
Hallway Drawing
November 2012
This is one of the first projects I did when we started the perspective unit. It is 2 point perspective and it is of the hallway next to the art hallway. I was absent a few days, so I had to take it home to finish it and it got crinkly. I don't like drawing perspective at all, which shows in the way my project turned out. As we progressed through the unit though, I got better at it.
Current Issue
October 2012
To start out this project, we had to make a list of current issues and then choose one. I chose teen pregnancy. Then we had to cut words out of newspapers and magazines that went along with our topic. My picture shows a girl that is obviously pregnant and is wearing a backpack to show that she is still attending school. We painted over it with watered down acrylic paint that was analogous colors. My project couldn't be hung up in the hallway because it could be kind of controversial because there are pregnant teens in our school which I understand. I think my project turned out okay, but I wish we had a little more time to work on it because I felt kind of rushed.
Perspective Drawing
December 2012
This was the final project of our perspective unit. We could choose 3 or 2 point perspective and I chose 3. It was more of a challenge to me. This project was challenging and took a lot of time to make sure all the lines were going to the right places. I think my project turned out pretty good. It is supposed to be a pier with a bunch of little shops in the back. Below the pier is the ocean which I added green and blue to. The only thing I would change is that I wish I did it in pen instead of pencil because the pencil smeared a lot and left finger and hand marks all over the page.
3 Color Water Color
January 2013
This was a quick 2 day project. We dumped and splattered 3 analogous colors on a piece of paper. Then after they dried, we looked in them to find shapes and then we shaded them with a pen. Mine was two frogs, an elephant, and a butterfly. I thought it was a cool quick project and it was nice to get away from the big projects.
Still Life Unit
January 2013
We started out drawing several objects that were set up on a table in the middle of the room. We learned about different ways to draw such as gesture drawing, contour drawing, and positive and negative space. We moved around the room and drew objects from different angles. I was gone for about a week and a half of this unit, so I didn't get to do the cooking drawing or charcoal drawing. This is my before drawing, so it was my first attempt at drawing still life. As you can see, it is really light and hard to see. I learned a lot in this unit, and I think my still life drawing skills have improved a lot.
